Description
This is a FREE Downloadable PDF worksheet you can do with your child. It has an activity for tracing numbers 1-5 with visual reminder on where to start writing the numbers. It is organized and designed for children who need clarity and flow to complete the task independently.
It also has coloring tasks to practice fine motor skills. Although it is designed for readers and emerging readers, it is good to practice this with your child provided they have the skill to attend a short table-task activity (at least 3-5 minutes). Some children in autism spectrum disorder may not be able to sit and complete one page in one sitting due to their regulation or sensory processing disorder. You may give your child one part at a time (e.g. tracing number 1 first) and then let him have a short break. Bring him back and complete the next part (e.x. coloring).
You can also modify some parts. For example, if your child doesn’t want to finish all 10 tracing practices, you can write the first 5 and let him finish the last 5 of the tracing number. Another example is when your child needs a support on coloring, color a thick outline around the number word, this way, your child can see which areas he needs to complete (which is just a small part). With this, your child will be more successful and be able to do task again.
Don’t forget to reward your child after completing a task (either praise or tangible item).
